Just What We Need: A Milli Vanilli Movie

The biggest frauds in music history are now the subject of an upcoming Universal film.
The story of Milli Vanilli, the duo who lip-synched their way to pop superstardom and a Grammy in the early 90’s, will soon hit the big screen, with “Catch Me if You Can” screenwriter Jeff Nathanson writing and directing.
Nathanson, who presented a sympathetic look at a check forger in “Catch Me if You Can,” became intrigued with the notion of taking a similar tack on the music industry tale. He has secured the cooperation of Fabrice Morvan, as well as the estate of Rob Pilatus, who died in 1998 as the pair were attempting a comeback. [Source]
OK, another biopic. Which could translate into Oscar gold for the actors who will be playing the two fakers. Remember that award-giving bodies are suckers for actors who play someone who actually exist/ed, like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jamie Foxx, Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker.
Wait a sec, do you even know who they were? They were these guys from the 90’s with bad hair and horrible clothes who churned out such hits as “Blame It On The Rain”, “All or Nothing” and “Girl You Know It’s True”. Then Frank Farian, their sleazebag of a producer, ratted them out, that they never sang a word of their hits that brought them a Grammy. They lost their Grammy, were dropped from their label, and crawled back into obscurity.
If you didn’t know that, then I’m too freaking old.
