Miss Sixty seemed to appear one day and be an overnight sensation the next. In reality, Miss Sixty has been around since the early '90s, but didn't reach the United States until recent years. Miss Sixty is a part of the larger Sixty Group - an Italian-based clothing group that is the umbrella label to at least ten different clothing lines including Sixty, Miss Sixty, Killah and Energie. Miss Sixty originated as the female companion to the Sixty fashion label.

When Miss Sixty was created in 1991, it was the first women's clothing label under the Sixty Group's larger umbrella. Its target customers are innovative, original and uncomforming women who are looking to have fun through their fashion choices. To put it plainly, the brand needs women who wear the clothes and who do not allow the clothes to wear them. Miss Sixty is primarily known for their denim options, but as the label gained popularity they began to be more known for their other types of garments and later on their accessories. Even as the brand continues to develop, define, and redefine itself, it has not yet lost its practically satirical sense even though it has become increasingly more and more feminine and mainstream.

The Sixty Group made its international presence known when, in 1992, they opened their Sixty USA offices as well as over 15 branch offices throughout Europe. Even though they had begun to establish themselves stateside, Miss Sixty did not start to pick up its gale force popularity until the late 90s/early 00s. The first Miss Sixty storefront opened in Covent Gardens, London in 1999. Currently, there are over 200 Miss Sixty stores worldwide. The brand continued to grow, and in 2001 they launched the Miss Sixty Eyewear Collection (with Marcolin) and footwear lines. In 2004, Miss Sixty partnered with Coty Inc to produce and distribute Miss Sixty perfume. And in 2005, not only did the junior collection launch, the perfume was released and the company is about to go into production on a special line of handbags and small leather goods (partnering with Coccinelle) and jewelry (partnering with Morellato).
