A Playboy Playmate Curse?
What do Anna Nicole Smith, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield and Dorothy Stratten have in common? They were all Playboy Playmates, and they all died before the age of 50. And they’re not the only Playmates to do so, leading one to think there might be a curse among Playboy Playmates.
I don’t know about the curse thing, but with more than twenty deaths among them over the past few decades, and some pretty gruesome ones at that, thinking that they’ve fallen victim to some unknown curse is more tempting than the normal and infinitely more logical explanation that it was just their time.
The aforementioned playmates died of unknown causes, sleeping pill overdose, decapitation by car crash, and gunshot wounds inflicted by own husband, respectively.
The other Playmate deaths were no less tragic: 1955 Playmate Eve Meyer was killed in a runway collision of two planes in Tenerife; 1977 centerfold Star Stowe was found strangled in 1977; 1970 Playmate of the Year Claudia Jennings, Carol Willis and Tonya Crews all perished in car crashes.
