And The Oscar Goes To…
How those in the list below would dearly love to hear their names finish that statement on February 25.
As Salma Hayek and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis announced the nominees, I was a bit surprised when the names and titles of some early favorites didn’t come out of Hayek’s and Ganis’ mouths.
Dreamgirls has been a favorite even before it was shown, and they’re not on the list of Best Picture nominees. Borat: Cultural Learnings of Whatever and Sacha Baron Cohen are also conspicuously absent. And Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for Blood Diamond, not for The Departed, where I think he did better. Well, at least Peter O’Toole and Martin Scorsese made it.
Speaking of the two, will you Academy guys give them Oscars already? They need something to show for their centuries of work, and recognition from the Academy is long overdue.
