Halle Berry apologizes for anti-Semitic joke

While on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Halle Berry made some remarks that didn’t go over so well.
She was showing Leno photos of herself on the Mac program Photo Booth, which distorts images like a carnival fun-house mirror.
An audience member said Halle pointed to one photo and said:
‘Here’s where I look like my Jewish cousin!’ - it was a picture of her with a huge, distorted nose. No one laughed, and a nervous Jay said, ‘I’m glad you said that and not me.’
The full remark never made it on air, however. The audience’s silence at the attempted joke was covered with a laugh track and the word “Jewish” was muted out.
“Oh, my God, have I just, like, ruined my whole career?” she asked, before going through the rest of her photo presentation.
The pregnant 41-year-old said the comment was not intended to be anti-Semitic and that she requested Leno have it removed from the show.
“I so didn’t mean to offend anybody—and after the show I realized it could be seen as offensive, so I asked Jay to take it out, and he did,” she said.
Berry said one of her Jewish assistants made the remark prior to the taping of the show:
“What happened was I was backstage before the show, and I have three girls who are Jewish who work for me. We were going through pictures to see which ones looked silly, and one of my Jewish friends said, ‘That could be your Jewish cousin!’ And I guess it was fresh in my mind, and it just came out of my mouth. But I didn’t mean to offend anybody. I didn’t mean any harm.”
“It was just supposed to be a silly segment. I am so sorry, and I apologize.”
I think people are getting WAAAAAAY overly sensitive.

I don’t like what she said, but at the same time, I can see her apology was sincere and she really did not mean to offend anyone. I’m not offended. This woman is not an anti-Semite. MEL GIBSON is an anti-Semite.

This is nonsense. People should make fun of whoever they want as long as it isn’t malicious. People need to stop getting their panties in the twist and joke about the differences. I’m Irish, I joke I’m going to car bomb people all the time, it’s fine.
