Johnny Depp to play Michael Jackson?
Johnny Depphas revealed that he wants to play
Michael Jackson
in a movie about the troubled singer’s life.
Depp was rumored to have modeled himself off of Jackson for his role as Willy Wonka in the 2005 movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’ But he has dismissed that assertion:
“A few people have mentioned it, and it kind of took me by surprise. I really didn’t expect that, Michael Jackson was not a sort of ingredient or inspiration for the character at all.”
However, he would love to take on the role of the pedophile, insisting, “There is still time to play him.”

Actually,I think it wouldn’t be difficult to play the role as white MJ.But if he has to play the black version you really have to use an other actor to play the black version.
Excpeccialy the macaber smile of Willy Wonka is parallel with the MJ-smile.

I think this would be great. Johnny is a fabulous actor, and has these eccentric roles down to a tee. With the right script Johnny could bring the character of Michael Jackson to life, and I would pay to see it. I think Michael would like Johnny to play him too - I could imagine Michael likes those eccentric characters Johnny plays, and Michael would be a perfect person for Johnny to play.
To the person who said “do you know Michael is African American?”… yes, we all know he is African American - but why should that matter? Johnny Depp is one of those actors, who can portray a character with a certain emotion and likability that people would never expect to have for such characters. Regarding Michaels race and appearance, I would imagine Johnny wouldn’t be putting on a jheri curl wig, and tanning his skin up. I think it would something more along the lines of character reflection and soul searching, more so than his appearance. Michaels appearance would have to come into play since it is a big part of his story, but it wouldn’t entirely be racial. Theres more to Michael than “black or white”.

There will definitely be a Michael biopic soon, but I personally don’t think it will be Jonny Depp. It is too obvious… I mean they’re getting Elijah Wood to play Iggy Pop! and Michael Douglas as Liberace?!

How ignorant and disrespectful to refer to the great Michael Jackson as a pedo! the person writing this and many others who chose to use this arrogance will NEVER amount to anywhere close the man that Jackson was.
Now onto Depp, I absolutely love Depp as an actor and to be honest can’t think of anyone else who could possibly play Michael in a movie other than Michael himself, so of course I think Depp would be perfect! they could easily make him look similar to Michael in his black and white and then moonwalker days! they can tan him for earlier parts and whiten him up for more recent parts. I do think they should start at the beginning and have a black actor play him from the start then they will have to cleverly change it over to Depp, I also think they should reflect on the vitalligo he had, (if not just to show audiences that he did have it and what he had to go through with it emotionally etc, cause even the haterz will watch this film) I think it will need to be at least a 3 hour film to give us a true account of his astonishing life, and I would prefer to see the whole thing, as a pose to just a segment of his life. of course I know this would take too long, and there’s already a film about his younger years so they could just use reflection for those parts and pick up from his solo career for the film, I think it will be fantastic and realyl hope they do it.

one more thing, It would be a bit jarring using actors and then real footage, so not sure about this, but it would seem unfair to not have real michael footage, the footage could be shown on tv/radio in the film instead of having as part of the film? also the black and white actors used would need to be able to play the role in the same way and hae similar voices, it would be akward. maybe it would be better if they used Jonny Depp all the way through, using make-up and prosthetics to make him black, but if the film starts from his solo career days, he had already had surgery on his nose etc so it won’t be that difficult. (and depp likes his eyeliner so that will work out!) they will have to be careful though, black audiences will no doubt be offended with a white man playing him for the whole film, but it really shouldn’t matter, Michael wouldn’t mind, he wasn’t pro-black, so people really shouldn’t be bothered, instead they should be happy that a great actor such as depp will be playing the part.

He wasn’t pro black? That’s bullshit. They tried to say Michael wanted a white actor to play him as a child during a pepsi commercial in 1993, and he addressed the issue on Oprah. He has repeated several times that he is a proud black American. His idols (James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr. etc) are black.
