Madonna’s Adoption Ruling Delayed
Madonna’s adoption of the Malawian girl, Mercy James has been delayed until Friday. A lot of people feel that Madonna is using her wealth and fame to speed up the process and allow exceptions to be made on her behalf. Normally, the Malawi governement requires an 1-2 year assessment before adoption. This one of the laws that Madonna is trying to bypass.
Additionally, the Malawi government seems to have a problem with Madonna being divorced. The do not allow adoptions to divorced people. I would agree with the government on this, but this is Madonna! She obviously has the money to give this child everything that it could not get in Malawi. It would also have a Malawian brother that Madonna adopted a couple of years ago. The Malawi government also needs to understand that if they are adopting out children to Americans or people who reside in America, it is normal for people to get divorced just because they get bored. People here do not have the same values as people in other countries.
