Madonna’s Malawi adoption rejected
On Friday, the judge rejected Madonna’s request to adopt Mercy James according to the
AP
. The reason for the rejection was that Madonna had not satisfied the residency rule. She needed to live in the south African nation for 18 months. This rule was waived when she adopted David a couple of years ago.
Madonna has the option to appeal to a higher Supreme Court. We’ll see what she decides. Mercy James has family in Malawi who want to take care of her so I don’t understant why Madonna is trying to take her away from her family. I bet if Madonna was trying to adopt a true orphan, there would not have been such controversy over the adoption.
