Obama’s get a Puppy - Not From the Shelter!
On Saturday, the Obamas got their 6 month old Portuguese water dog which is an allergen-free dog. Do we all remember when Obama said they would get their dog from the shelter? All of us animal lovers know how horrible it is to buy a bred dog when there are so many shelter and rescue animals waiting for a home.
Malia and Sasha did name the dog Bo. Obama did find a way around what he told the people about how he wanted a shelter/rescue dog. This puppy was a gift from Senator Edward Kennedy. So techically, Obama did not buy the dog. Instead he has pledged to make a donation to the DC Humane Society. What a load of crap! He could have waited for a resuce dog.

I have always gone to the local no-kill shelter for cats. I now have a wonderful Coon Cat and donate money, food and other items to the shelter. A Water dog is a good choice as they are hypo-allergenic. I do wish they were able to find one at the shelter but the dog is being re-homed. Hopefully they will donate generously to the DC shelter.

I absolutely agree!! A donation to the DC Humane Society does not give a dog a life long home nor does it save any animals’ lives. All kinds of dogs come through shelters including their new fancy shmancy Portuguese Water Dog. Pathetic.
