Paul Harvey dies at age 90
Talk-radio pioneer Paul Harvey died over the weekend at the age of 90. Harvey was surrounded by family members at a Phoenix hospital, where he also has a winter home.
Harvey was forced to go off the air in 2001 due to a virus weakening his vocal cord but returned to work in Chicago and continued to be active past his 90th birthday. His wife and longtime producer Lynne died less than a year ago.
Paul Harvey Jr. issued a statement:
Harvey received the presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 and was an inductee in the Radio Hall of Fame with his wife Lynne.“My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news, so in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend.”
