Project Runway FINALE!!! SPOILER, DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHO WINS!
Well, first of all, everyone was crying in this episode – Jeffrey, Tim Gunn – MOI! Who knew fashion design could be so emotional? Well, Jeffrey was found innocent of all charges except keeping in budget. He was allowed to compete at fashion week, but he had to cut something out of his collection when he went over budget by $200 somethin’ dollars. I believe Laura when she says she never meant for Jeffrey to possibly get kicked off, I still think she’s a bit of a jealous yotch for putting him in that position. I love how genuine Uli is, though- she’s just happy, and likes everyone, and wants everyone to be happy and like everyone. How … German? Our celeb guest judge is Fern Mallis, creator of Olympus Fashion Week. And of course, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia were on-hand. I know they’re going to dish us an extra heaping of sassy, and I can’t hardly wait I’m so excited.
So Jeffrey went first – tres apropos, non? Anyhoo, he said all his thank yous and I love yous, and then whammo, the collection. It was tres Jeffrey and very tied together. I was impressed, but when you’re watching you just know he’ll get into trouble with the judges for going over budget.
Uli’s up – at first I thought, “Uli, what happened to all the color in your soul?” Because none of it was in the first portion of her collection. The theme was obv safari, and as the collection progresses some touches of the Uli pattern/color scheme come out. I’m just afraid the judges will ask her where Uli went.
Laura’s up next, and of course, first comes a joke about her being big and preggers. Then the collection. And, it’s good. Very classic. A little too many feathers for my taste, but…classy. At this point I’m thinking, “you know, Laura could take it all.”
And then, Michael Knight. Holy awful collection, batman. Three words: Tackay. Cheapay. Lamay.
Now, the designers hit the runway. Laura goes first. The judges LOVE her. They’re amazed. $8,000? They say it looks like $30,000! Nina wants to know why Laura didn’t go even further out of her comfort zone. Fern says, she thinks it rocks – that’s a paraphrase, of course.
Next up, Michael – blah blah blah, safari, bullcrap, wah wah wah, I tried to hard. Fern comments that Michael was the crowd fave, but says collection didn’t stand up to that. Duh. Whammo Duh. Michael Kors says it best when he says, “Whaaaa happened?”
Jeffrey is up next – judges dig the collection. Fern thinks it’s adorable. Michael is into Jeffrey’s range – he can see the women in every phase of their lives. And…wait for it…the budget. Jeffrey explains how he ditched the wigs, and tries to turn it around by now saying he’s $400 under the limit.
And…Uli. Nina starts talking like a crazy robot – I keep expecting her to say something bad, but she doesn’t. Heidi says she would wear the clothes – every last piece. Michael is lost on the disjointedness (shhhh, don’t tell anyone I make up words) of her color palette. Fern says stick with Miami, resorts are super in.
And when the judges convene, they say – everything we already know already in terms of their opinions of the designers, the collections, their personalities, and how trashay Michael Knight’s collection was
And the decision…dum dum dum. Can you even stand the suspense??? I’ll make this quick, easy, and painless.
Michael Knight: Auf’d
Laura Bennett: Auf’d
Uli: Auf’d
Jeffrey: BIG WINNER
Wow. I kinda thought Uli would have taken it. Seriously though, they’re all going to have awesome careers, and I will be the first to buy an Uli dress. Congrats to all four contestants.
