Richard Gere Is A Wanted Man In India
Richard Gere hugged, kissed and dipped Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty onstage during an AIDS awareness event in New Delhi, India. Apparently, he didn’t know that public displays of affection are a no-no in the country, and now members of the right-wing Hindu nationalist group, Shiv Sena, are protesting in the streets, burning effigies of the actor and demanding his arrest for offending the Indian people.
Sheesh. For a country that churned out the world’s second biggest population, India sure is pretty uptight about the slightest and most meaningless physical contact in public.
Shetty, who won the British Celebrity Big Brother in January, defended Gere, saying: “I understand that it might have looked like he went slightly overboard, but that was really not the intention. His intention was that of entertaining the people.“
Now Shiv Sena members are entertaining themselves by burning pictures of the actress as well.
But then again, if the people of India in general really were “outraged” by Gere’s actions, why didn’t the audience rush the stage and lynch him on the spot? The crowd, as far as I could tell, was even cheering the two on. Check out the video and hear for yourself.

Richard Gere, I think is a terrific actor bout he needs alittle work on his kissing technique. Do you think that his breath stinked when he kissed Shilpa Shetty, I’m not sure. well, he must have some really weired feeling after he had kissed shilpa shetty. I would not dared to do such things in public
