Shia LaBeouf Is Indy’s Newest Sidekick
The big-screen and live-action treatment of “Transformers” isn’t even out yet, but
Shia LaBeouf
has landed another plum role, this time as
Harrison Ford’s
sidekick in the fourth installment of the “Indiana Jones” series.
Weeks of speculation ended when the actor himself confirmed that he has indeed been chosen for the role, saying that director
Steven Spielberg
and producer
George Lucas
have forbidden him to speak about it until recently.
However, he still doesn’t know much what the upcoming movie would be all about.
His choice may be a mystery to many, how someone who hasn’t really proven anything yet gets all those big roles. But if he’s got someone like Spielberg saying stuff like ““Up until about two weeks ago, it was little more than a rumor,” he says. “Literally, when I was saying, ‘I don’t know anything,’ I didn’t know anything. It was an act of faith. I have not read a script. I don’t think anybody has.”[

Shia has extraordinary range. I think of him as ‘the young man for all seasons
” about him, then that’s gotta count for something, doesn’t it?
LaBeouf, who stars in the thriller “Disturbia” which is set to open today, is practically everywhere. Kinda reminds me of how
Mark Ruffalo
has been in so many movies in the past two years I couldn’t keep track of them. And many say LaBeouf will be a big star in 2007. This we gotta see.
