Simon Says He’s Bigger Than The Boss

Simon Cowell is always a class act.
In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” which will air on Sunday, acerbic American Idol judge Simon Cowell has declared he’s bigger than Bruce Springsteen himself.
“I sell more records than Bruce Springsteen, sure,” Cowell says of the 57-year-old rocker, who signed a contract that was reported to be in the neighborhood of $100 million.
“I mean, in the last five years, I’ve probably sold over 100 million records. If (Springsteen) got one hundred (million dollars), I should have got five hundred (million dollars),” he says. [Source]
Simon also told interviewer Anderson Cooper that he sells all those records because every single American Idol winner is now signed through Sony-BMG, and that this applies to the more than 30 countries where ‘Idol’ is sold.
It’s funny how someone whose only claim to fame is producing albums of mostly annoying boy bands and ripping singing wannabes’ hearts out live on TV could be so full of himself as to compare himself to one of the greatest music icons who ever lived. In fact, the names Simon Cowell and Bruce Springsteen shouldn’t even be put in the same sentence, which, incidentally, I just did. And I’m not even a Bruce Springsteen fan.
If there’s anything about Simon that’s undoubtedly bigger than anything of Springsteen’s, it’s his mouth. But we already know that, don’t we?
